We are in the process of recreating our Yoga Identity. Something we’re very excited about! Wendy Martin, Yoga Goddess extraordinaire has been dreaming big about the future of Northern Edge Algonquin’s “Yoga at the Edge” new personality. We are lucky to have such an inspired team of thinkers and idea makers.

About 2 weeks ago Wendy MacCrimmon and I (Kate Hood) had the opportunity to head out to the Retreat Centre and take pictures. This is something both of us are VERY passionate about, the results were incredible. I’ve been editing and photoshopping, and posting images all over the place. Here is small taste of what we’ve been up to…

Yoga at the Edge featured Guest at Disney World

OK, Yoga at the Edge is about as far from Disney as you can get, but I couldn’t resist . . .

A new experience, just added to the Edge calendar…

It’s Winter, we’ve got a ton of snow, and we’re anxious to kick off the season with a new program for Family day weekend. From February 13-16th we’ll be hosting a Valentine’s Romantic getaway for couples featuring dogsledding adventures, back country snowshoe and skiing excursions, Yoga, along with hot stone message and Reflexology treatments.

We’ll only be offering this experience once this season and hop on the train from Toronto and take advantage of our 2 for 1 deal and join us in this Winter. Call us to say hi or ask a question about our newest package. Enjoy the holiday season, and the beautiful white, fluffy snow!

Yoga and the Zen of Winter

Yoga and the Zen of Winter, Feb. 5-8th

Greetings from the Edge office here in South River. Todd and I created a podcast today and chatted about the latest news here at the Northern Edge: including upcoming events, new partnerships, snowy weather, new photos and Winter travel! We’ve got one heck of a deal you can’t turn down. As part of our commitment to being climate friendly, the Edge is subsidizing the cost of train tickets. 2 for 1!

Tune in above to hear all that’s new and Edgy. For more information call to chat at 1 800 953 EDGE.

Travel by Train from Toronto for a Winter Getaway

    I love the train.

What I really love about the train is the train to and from Toronto in the winter.

Let’s face it, no one loves driving in the snow.  No one!  And this is a problem for many people thinking about getting out of town and enjoying a winter getaway in Ontario, like the winter getaways we offer at the Edge.

One of my favourite things about our location here on the Edge of Ontario’s Algonquin Park (South River entrance) is how easy we are to get to by train from Toronto!  In fact, we’re the only part of Ontario’s Algonquin Park that is easy to get to by train. You just hop on the train in Union Station (Ontario Northland), enjoy a book, play cards, look out the window, nap, catch up on some last minute work . . . you get the picture.

A few hours later, a smiling face is waiting to great you at South River and shuttle you out to our solar powered nature retreat to enjoy a winter getaway, special time among like-minded folk.  Of course after the weekend, we take our guests back to the train station and bid them farewell . . . and the clickety clack of the train takes folks back to Union Station.

    Imagine it.

Easy, climate friendly . . . . and cheap!  It’s just $160 return, including the transfers out to the nature retreat!  We even offer special discounts on this low rate from time to time.

Don’t let winter driving keep you from enjoying a visit with us this winter, you know you deserve it.  Take the train from Union Station in Toronto.

Team Building with Corporate Quest (3 part podcast!)

    team building retreat podcast

Team building at Ontario’s Algonquin Park is special. Our facilitation team at the Edge chats about Corporate Quest team building retreats and answers a bunch of questions. Meet corporate facilitators Rob Straby and Tracy Robinson, hosted by founder, Todd Lucier.

    Part I

    • How do teams respond to going away to a remote offsite at Algonquin Park?
    • How is the Edge different from a traditional resort getaway for corporate teams?
    • What unique opportunities for team building programming does the location provide?
    • What about time out? Is there any “I” time?
Does a Corporate Quest have any lasting impact?
    • How does the team building retreat planning process work?
    • How are the needs of individuals and the organization as a whole met?

    Part II

    • What are the benefits of starting a team building retreat in Toronto?
    • What will your team experience if they participate in a Corporate Quest?
    • How can a mapping experience help move your organization forward?
    • How do themes contribute to a corporate team building retreat?
    • What are the benefits of putting your team a bit outside their comfort zone?
    • What is the learning edge?
    • How do you ensure everyone has a good time, even if the weather is bad?

    Part III

    • How do people react to being away from their technologies for a couple of days?
    • How do visiting teams benefit from the intangibles of Appreciative Inquiry at the Edge?
    • What does a day at the Edge look like?
    • Do organizations benefit by having outside facilitators plan and deliver their retreat?
    • How does Corporate Quest respond to inquiries?
