Winter Sunrise

I wanted to capture the beauty of the sunrise this morning. I ran about searching for my camera, fretting that I was going to miss the shot. . . and I realized I could still capture it, in words.

Pink streaks of light race across the lake, lighting a fire on birch trees.
Snow sparkles, ice dazzles, eyes filled with wonder.
My shoulders feel the radiant heat as the earth’s stove kicks on for another day.
The phone won’t ring to disturb this moment, because here, there isn’t one.
The only way to disturb this moment, is to run around looking for a camera.
So I sit and soak it in.
